Packaged Rainwater Pump and Water Purification Unit
Tizagenix (use-rainwater.com) has developed a packaged pump and water purification unit that has been designed and optimized for domestic rainwater harvesting installations as well as back-up water systems. The packaged unit is the latest iteration of their water filtration unit that has been installed in many domestic rainwater harvesting and back-up water systems across Southern Africa. The unit is the perfect solution for treating and supplying purified rainwater from rainwater harvesting tanks or simply improving the water quality of a municipal backup supply.
The unit can easily be connected to a rainwater tank and purify the water to potable standard for direct supply to the household.
All components are mounted on a sturdy 304 Stainless steel frame (1.2m X 0.65m x 1m). The frame affords the user the option of cladding it in a material that is consistent with the architectural design of the building that the system is being installed in.
The unit consists of a multistage centrifugal pump that has been sized to deliver sufficient pressure and flow to meet the demands of most households. The pump is coupled with a Global Water Solutions’ 24 liter PressureWave® series pressure tank. The pressure tank increases the longevity of the pump and reduces the energy consumption of the system by reducing the number of pump starts, which makes it perfect for solar installations and UPS systems as well. A small water demand, such as the rinsing of a glass is delivered by the pressure tank. The design and construction of the PressureWave® pressure tank ensures that the system will operate reliably and efficiently for many years without the need to replace EPDM bladders or recharge the air pressure.
Pump control is provided by Global Water Solutions’ PumpWave® series electronic pump controller. The controller is designed to work in conjunction with the pressure tank. Its cut in pressure can be adjusted from 1 to of 2.5 bar which is very useful when the system is used in multi-story buildings. The controller protects the pump from dry running when there is no water left in the tank, reducing the need for a float switch.
