Stuart Ingleby, Territory Manager in the UK recently visited the installation of a commercial biomass installation in Market Drayton, Shropshire. GWS UK supplied SuperFlow, Challenger and PressureWave tanks for this project built by IEC and Barber Pumps. Systems like these are usually installed for heating in the drying room where the wood chip and feed is stored for the chicken farm. The generated heat is passed through the barns through 4 inch pipework and then goes through the floor as heat to dry the wood chips.

The plant uses 250 liter Challenger™ tanks as a precaution. If there is a fire within a boiler, the tank, which is linked to it directly, is automatically switched on to empty into the boiler and put out the fire. The Challenger™ tanks simply provide a large amount of water under pressure. For cleaning the barns, 2 350kW wood burner boilers, each with a PressureWave™ 150 liter tank, have been installed to supply water for the washdown machines.

There are plans to duplicate this chicken farm to other locations and as IEC has been extremely happy with the quality of the tanks, we can be certain that they will continue choosing GWS tanks.
